Perth and Fremantle

Sunday 4th December

Another warm sunny day, spent riding around Perth and Fremantle. On the way to Kings Park and the road to the coast, I passed by London Court, a mock Tudor mall which is a well known Perth landmark:

There was a bit of a climb up to Kings Park but on arrival there you get a great view over the city

The War Memorial is an impressive structure dominating the edge of the park:

This boab tree, which is about 700 years old, was transplanted into Kings Park a few years ago, from its original site in northern WA, where it had to be moved to allow widening of a main road:

I rode out to the beach at Cottesloe then headed south to Fremantle along the coastal bike path:

On arrival at Fremantle there was a bit of rain but it didn’t last long. Fremantle is a great place for a day trip, with lots of colonial buildings:

This round tower, formerly a jail, is the oldest surviving building in WA:

On the way back to Perth I saw some black swans by the river:

Total distance today 64kms.
